Dr. Alan Atlas maintains a full-time private practice dedicated to comprehensive and esthetic dentistry located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has taught at Penn Dental Medicine for 26 years, holding a dual appointment as Clinical Professor of Restorative Dentistry in the departments of Endodontics and Preventive/Restorative Sciences. He is Director of Restorative Microscopy at Penn Dental Medicine teaching the only curriculum-based course in any dental school worldwide training students to perform precision dentistry and improve chair-side ergonomics using the dental microscope. Dr. Atlas is an internationally recognized lecturer and researcher whose unique academic and private practice perspective is focused on applying scientific based protocols to general and advanced clinical dentistry. His presentations span worldwide including Japan, Africa, Australia, Middle East, China, South Korea, Europe and continually at all major meetings in the United States.
Dr Floratos received his DMD from the University of Thessaloniki School of Dental Medicine in Greece in 2001 and joined the Greek Navy as an Active Duty Dental Officer. In 2009 he graduated from the full-time Residency program in Endodontics and Microsurgery offered at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in USA. He received the Louis Grossman Award for ‘Outstanding Proficiency in the Graduate Program’, the Award for ‘Outstanding Case Presentation’, as well as the Award for ”Contribution in teaching Microendodontics and Endodontic Microsurgery” offered upon graduation from the Endodontic Program. Since 2009, he holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor appointment at the Endodontic Department of University of Pennsylvania. He was the Director of the Endodontic Department of the Athens Naval Hospital in Greece for 10 years and retired in 2019 as a Commander Endodontist of the Greek Navy. He is the primary author of 3 chapters at the “Microsurgery in Endodontics” textbook by Kim & Kratchman published in 2017, as well as one chapter in ‘Endodontic-Periodontal Lesions’ by Tsesis & Rosen published in 2019. His cases have been published at the ‘ Pathways of the Pulp’ textbook and ‘Ingle’s Endodontics’ textbook. He has presented in endodontic meetings in USA and Europe and has published in national and international endodontic journals.
